Benefits of Detoxification Diets for Fitness
and Health
A detoxification diet may be indicated
if your body is showing signs of high levels of toxins. You
may feel sluggish and stressed without cause. You may experience
aches and pains, diarrhea, constipation, or clumsiness. Rapid
weight gain and an inability to lose the excess weight can also
be signs of having toxins in the body, although of course there
may be other causes too.
Regular exercise can help with
detoxifying. Drinking plenty of water is also important.
If you want to go a step further and try a detox diet, consult
with your doctor first.
The toxins found in the body are
often stored in your fat cells. In detoxing the body and cleaning
out the unwanted garbage in your cells, you should pay attention
to your elimination organs.
There are particular organs in
your body that deal with cell waste management. These organs
clearly play a major role in the detoxing process for a fit
and healthy body.
1. Your liver is the organ that
recycles and redirects unwanted chemicals in the body. It sorts
out the toxins and sends them for elimination during the circulation
process. The principal elimination organs will take over from
the liver to eliminate these toxins.
2. The lymph glands also play an
important role here. A network of tubing transfers the excess
waste of the cells to the final eliminating organs. The appendix,
thymus, tonsil, and spleen are the main lymphatic glands that
help the major organs of the body in detoxing and cleansing.
3. The kidneys assist in the water
management of the body. The kidneys keep the blood alkaline
by eliminating dissolved acidic waste. You can help your kidney
to function very well by drinking plenty of water. It is much
better if you drink fresh alkaline juices and purified water.
Just a half ounce of alkaline everyday may help you to see positive
results with toxins and your body weight.
4. The lungs are the organs that
keep the blood purified by air. They allow oxygen to go directly
to the bloodstream. They are also responsible for removing waste
gases that are found in every cell of the body. Deep breathing
and fresh air are very helpful in keeping the lungs healthy
and free from toxins. If you are an the urban area, it is recommended
that you find an oxygen rich area such as a large park or countryside
area where you can perform deep breathing.
5. The colon is the body's solid
waste management organ. Medical practitioners have found that
some people can have up to 80 pounds of mucus and rubber-like
solid waste clinging to the walls of the colon. Detoxing and
cleansing the colon to eliminate all this waste can be a real
tough thing to do, and is best done over a long period of time
with regular detoxifying diets, and maintaining a healthy diet
with plenty of fiber between detoxes.
You may feel worse while you are
detoxing, with headaches or other symptoms. This is because
of the high level of toxins circulating in the blood as they
are sent out by the liver for elimination. This can be worse
if your detoxification is very intense. If you are uncomfortable,
end the detox gradually and see your doctor.
When you end a detox, be sure to
reintroduce foods gradually, starting with pure foods such as
salads.
